Picasa wiped out my camera without saving photos

I'm a long time Picasa user and have never had this happen. I went through the usual procedure of importing photos from camera. I asked it to save the photos to a folder, entered the folder name, selected Safe Delete option. When it was done, no folder could be found; the pictures did not transfer and all the pictures on my camera are gone. People, don't use Safe Delete option in Picasa 2.7! After that I recovered my storage card, but not all pictures are recovered now.
